A Few of My Favorite Things

This is the last post for my social media project. I have really enjoyed sharing all my favorite things to do and see at the estuary located at GTM Research Reserve in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This is probably the best time of the year to visit.

The Minorcan Well is located at Pine Bluff.
Take a family outing through one of the five trails - bring the bikes, hike or walk. Oh, don't forget to bring the family dog (be sure he's on a leash though). Along the way, check out the historical Minorcan Well I mentioned in another post and the indigo plants that go back hundreds of years. Maybe you'll see a gopher tortoise or deer cross the trail or a wild turkey! Pack a lunch and picnic at one of the tables along the Tolomato River.

Kayak or canoe the Guana River! Oh, and there's terrific fishing at the Guana Dam or at the beach. Don't forget to try family seining if you haven't already. It's offered for free twice a month. To learn more about it, read my post about seining. Or perhaps you just want to bird watch.

If you would rather go to the beach, I recommend you visit the pristine beaches. It's always fun to look for shark's teeth or sit and watch all the seashore birds and listen to the waves crashing against the shore.

Hunt for shark's teeth on the beach.
Don't forget to visit the Environmental Education Center where you'll see a lot of cool things like the life-size North Atlantic right whale and other creatures from the ocean hanging from the ceiling, replicas of a variety of habitat living in the estuary, and say hello to the adorable diamondback terrapin turtles I told you about. You can also have family fun with the scavenger hunt while learning about everything!

Exhibit Hall
This is an especially great place to bring those out-of-town relatives during the holidays. And, it's free (except for $3 parking at the beaches and Guana Dam). The estuary is always a wonderful adventure - to explore and experience unforgettable memories!

Happy holidays, everyone! Thanks for reading my blog.
